EXHIBIT 2024-25

The Zen master Bankei said that one should abide in the unborn and not try to obtain it. The unborn is not a condition to be created, it is already complete as it. “When you abide in the unborn, all is Zazen (meditation).” This exhibition is a display of various explorations into the unborn consciousness, before it moves outside of its subtle envelope into the gross; protected by silence and abiding in non-birth. Different projects of the exhibition explore different stages of the journey to return to the state of Fu-Sho, the Japanese term meaning ‘Un-Born’. A mind without categorizations, perceptions and negative emotions finds peaceful abode in its ‘seed-like’ existence. The Exhibit consists of 8 Art projects spanning approximately 70 paintings and drawings in Sumi-e ink and charcoal. Sizes range from 5' x 6' to 8" x 8".
